Well, I feel pretty good about my weekend. (as boring as it was, it was good for this old lazy lady)
Yesterday I farted around a lot in the morning, walked the dog, dropped off Dexter Is Delicious at the library, went to the office to write a check for my sister for Flyers tickets she sold the business, and stopped at a diner near there I’d passed by a million times but had never tried, and wolfed down pancakes, eggs, bacon, and a second cup of coffee. Then I picked up my mom and we got pierogies with our Groupons. I got 3 dozen and didn’t pay any extra (the groupon was $12 for $25 worth) and my mom got 6 dozen! She also got the last slice of cheese babka. I have absolutely no idea what I did for the rest of the night. OH! Duh, it’s still in front of my, partly. I went through this bag of old jewelry and findings and stuff, set aside a bunch of jewelry I would like to sell, and put it on the original cards if I still had them, and cleaned up some of it. I still have a tv table full of little bits and pieces I have to sort and put away.
I keep trying to read my next book selection, My Brilliant Career, by Miles Franklin (a 16 year old Australian girl at the turn of the 20th century) but I can’t seem to concentrate. I think all those Dexter books in the last month have turned my brain to Skittles.
This morning I got up before 8, made coffee, farted around on the internet, and decided I wanted to go whack some tennis balls over at the high school backboard. So I did that for a half hour, then walked a half mile or so, then I walked the dog. Then I showered, and my mom called and said she didn’t feel like going to brunch, which was good because neither did I, and I don’t know what else I did for a couple hours, oh yeah, made my own breakfast, farted around on the internet, then watched Benny’s Video on Netflix Instant (available through tomorrow), directed by Michael Haneke, who I love. It was disturbing and very good, like most of his films. He really makes you feel like a voyeur, or at least like it’s unfolding in front of your eyes. There are 2 more available by him through tomorrow: The Castle, and The Seventh Continent. I may watch one of them in a bit. Then I got off my duff, and went into the attic for a while. MAN do I need to get some serious work done up there. I think half of it is empty boxes! Anyway, I got my humidifiers down, and then went through a box and a bag of junk, found some good stuff, including a Speedy Gonzalez Pez dispenser and a vintage postcard I bought on eBay years ago of an Atlantic City hotel that features my family’s name on it but is no relation (and was a corrupt mayor and was renamed in Boardwalk Empire the series), and I threw a bunch of stuff away and put a bunch in recycling. I brought down some clothing tubs, one with winter sweaters and one to put summer shirts into. So I did a little clothes sorting and then I picked up all the heaps of clothing from the floor and clean stuff from the laundry baskets and hung, folded, and put away most of it. There is still a bunch on my bed. And I really want to change my sheets too. So I guess I’d better get on with my evening. The movies are close to 2 hours and then Eastenders comes on at 11, so I have to squeeze in cleaning off the bed and changing my sheets in there.
Next weekend is an Official Decluttering Weekend. Some Wordpress pals and I are going to pick a room, or some sort of decluttering project, take before pics, tackle the project, and then take after pics. It’s the 1st of 3 weekends in November and December. So my clothing cleanup doesn’t even count, the attic stuff was like a little bonus, but I hope I am ready to buckle down and really make some headway. On something. I haven’t even decided what to tackle yet. I have a long list but I have to decide.
So, that was my weekend. It was supposed to be a relaxing, do-nothing weekend but I snuck in some exercise and straightening up! Go me!
